Why I started Valence.
I'm Nathan Donohue. I spent 15+ years advising hundreds of families, including executives at companies like Microsoft and Amazon, on equity compensation. Smart, successful people who did everything right, then found themselves with most of their net worth in one stock and a tax bill attached to nearly every move.
Then I lived it myself. I built an advisory firm, scaled it to $500 million in assets under management, and sold it. I knew the tension firsthand. What if it loses value before I diversify? What if I sell too soon?
Valence is the firm I wished existed for me. Narrow on purpose, highly technical, and priced so that doing well never costs you more.
What we actually do.
